BT Southern Cone Allies with GENBAND

SipTrunkingReport Contributor

BT Southern Cone, the regional operator of BT’s Latin America region, recently signed an agreement with GENBAND, a developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, for the migration of its voice infrastructure throughout Argentina to a new all IP-enabled network.

According to the terms of the agreement, GENBAND will provide its end-to-end network transformation solution to BT Southern Cone for the migration process. GENBAND will use S3 Session Border Controller, G9 Converged Gateway, C3 Gateway Controller and G2 Compact Gateway solutions to transition BT Southern Cone’s enterprise networks to a new IP-enabled network. Moreover, the company will also provide enhanced IP services for local, national and international traffic.

“GENBAND’s experience within BT networks worldwide uniquely qualified them to tackle our migration needs here in Latin America as did their end-to-end portfolio,” said Juan Brina, sales director for BT Southern Cone. “GENBAND’s proven carrier-grade products offer 99.999 percent reliability while providing BT customers with a highly scalable interconnection solution and IP peering features.”

With the use of combination of adaptive security, insightful policy enforcement, any-to-any interworking and advanced session routing capabilities, the S3 Intelligent Session Border Controller simplifies the network edge by securely managing, routing, and controlling real-time voice and multimedia sessions. On the other hand, G9 Converged Gateway represents the latest generation of high density carrier-class, multipurpose media processing platforms for high-capacity trunking, access, border gateway and IP transcoding services.

GENBAND's C3 Gateway and Media Resource Function Controller is a multiapplication softswitch and media server/media gateway control platform that allows operators to cap-and-grow, or replace their TDM switches and launch cost-effective greenfield IP Trunking, IP interconnect and IMS applications. On the other hand, the G2 Compact Gateway is a carrier-class, multipurpose gateway for connectivity at the border between the IP and TDM/Circuit Switched Networks. The smallest member of GENBAND’s G Series product line, it supports access, trunking and packet line gateway functionalities simultaneously.

Dan Lakey, GENBAND’s senior vice president of Americas Sales, said, “We are very pleased to expand our relationship with BT in Latin America. BT Southern Cone continues to smartly migrate and invest in state-of-the-art IP telecommunications infrastructure for Latin America. GENBAND’s industry-leading network transformation solutions and services deliver the advanced IP innovation, functionality and applications that are in demand by customers in the region, while seamlessly migrating BT’s networks cost effectively. This marks the beginning of an exciting partnership between GENBAND and BT Southern Cone, and we look forward to supporting BT’s ongoing investments in network evolution in Argentina and across the continent.”
