Mitel Implements Feature Rich IP Telephony Solution to Deliver Significant Savings

By Contributing Writer

Earlier this week, a provider of cloud and premises based unified communications and collaboration solutions, Mitel, announced the implementation of a feature-rich IP telephony solution for the Specialized Medical Center Hospital (SMCH) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Designed to enhance communication across the hospital and members of the public, this solution is built on the Mitel Communications Director (MCD) platform and through streamlined maintenance and management and lower call costs, it is expected to deliver significant savings.

The SMCH is located in the heart of Riyadh and provides over 450 inpatient beds and over 140 outpatient clinics. The resilient MCD solution will be used by the hospital's dedicated, highly qualified team of almost 2,000 physicians, paramedic and support staff.

In order to access voice messages from anywhere across the hospital, the staff will have access to a range of rich call handling and telephony features, including unified messaging through Mitel softphones.

The platform will also form the basis of the hospital's new centralized contact center operation, providing agent and supervisor tools to drive productive interactions with callers, alongside real-time and historical reporting available to monitor operational efficiency.

“Our communication approach is an integral part of these values and the Mitel solution will enable the Hospital to deliver a professional, high quality service to patients and connect our staff effectively,” said Safi Dagher, SMCH, IT director. He added that to further enhance real-time communication; it is looking forward to integrate the solution with other hospital applications such as nursing calls and notifications

Hisham El-Amili, general manager, Mitel, Middle East stated that in the healthcare sector, effective communication is essential. MCD’s highly flexible, feature-rich IP telephony system will support the requirements of the SMCH and also provide a future-proof platform. This in-turn will allow the hospital to embrace virtualization and new collaboration and communication technologies.
