Toshiba (News - Alert) America Information System Inc. has announced that it is extending its VIPedge capacity to accommodate up to 500 users for either single or multi-site deployments.
The VIPedge (Rel. 1.4) solution is designed for businesses that need a concentrated communications system, without requiring the actual phone system to be owned or maintained onsite.
"VIPedge delivers the benefits of Toshiba's on-premise VoIP system, only in a cloud solution, that provides feature transparency for up to 500 users in a single or multi-site deployment," said Mark Carpenter, vice president of Technology and Product Management at Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division.
The new VIPedge (Rel. 1.4) offers a complete business telephone system with upgraded features. One of the new upgrades was made to the Call Manager Desktop for Windows feature, which will now include an XMPP server integration that will include instant messaging, making it easier and quicker to communicate with Toshiba’s Call Manager Mobile.
Toshiba has also announced at some point in the future, Call Manager Mobile, will join with Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync and Google Talk to help users find each other quicker. Users will also have the ability to create a single or group message chat. Multiple group chats will be supported with the ability to send out broadcast messages.
"With VIPedge, Toshiba manages the entire telephone system in the cloud, so all users have to do is answer their phones," Carpenter added.
Toshiba’s cloud business telephone system is currently available through authorized Toshiba Dealers across the nation.
