The new Call Manager Mobile from Toshiba (News - Alert) is an application for the VIPedge cloud-based business telephone solution. This application allows Android (News - Alert) mobile phone owners to use many of their business telephony features while away from their desk.

The VIPedge cloud-based communications platform gives organizations a full featured telephone system without having to own and maintain a system onsite. This communications solution is cost effective and the maintenance, upgrade and the mobility solution is part of the service.

The increase adoption of BYOD policies means more people are using their smartphones and tablets as part of the organizations network. The mobility solution of the VIPedge platform gives Android mobile users the ability to use many of its features.

Some of the options include:

• Enhanced Presence Features – This allows users to quickly find one another with XMPP-compatible server integration, capable of enhancing presence state information. VIPedge customers will get their own XMPP server for better access and security.
• Single and Group Instant Messaging – All users have the ability to broadcast messages and use multiple simultaneous sessions for single and group instant messaging.
• Single Number Reach – The IPMobility solution allows the user to provide a single number for incoming and outgoing calls. The telephone number of your choice can be used to receive calls on multiple endpoint devices.

The IPMobility has additional features that give the user access to call transfer, call record, direct-extension dialing and many other calling and receiving options. Currently, Call Manager Mobile is only available from Authorized Toshiba dealers for the Android platform. The firm has plans to announce the introduction of Apple (News - Alert) iOS, Apple OS X, Microsoft Windows and other platforms in the near future.
