Hardware and software provider Sangoma Technologies Corporation has announced a new appointment, which, the company thinks, will significantly boost its global expanse strategy.

According to a news statement, technology industry veteran Mark Wagner has been tapped to lead the company’s Carrier and UC Sales practices for North America and EMEA regions. As the company’s new VP, Wagner will focus on expanding the company’s presence in the carrier, SIP trunk service and unified communications markets.

Sangoma provides a suit of hardware and software components designed to enhance IP Communications Systems for both telecom and datacom applications. The product line includes data and telecom boards for media and signal processing, as well as gateway appliances and software. The company caters to a large clientele spread across the continents. Clients include the enterprises, SMBs and carriers, who leverage Sangoma's technology to support their mission critical infrastructures.

Over the past two years, the company has significantly expanded its product portfolio, with the introduction of new solutions such as SS7, high density gateways, transcoding, and also a complete line of Session Border Controllers. The last addition was designed to exclusively address the service provider space, and as expected, the product helped the company win a wave of new customers.

All set to further expand its footprint into new market sectors and new geographies, the company seemingly has a well-defined global expansion strategy in place. The company thinks that a man of Mark Wagner’s caliber is well suited to translate the strategy into a reality.

“We are delighted to welcome Mark to our dynamic and growing sales organization in this executive leadership position. Mark's deep experience, energy and repeatedly proven success will help Sangoma accelerate its global strategy of expanding into new market sectors and new geographies. Over the past two years, Sangoma has dramatically broadened its product portfolio to deliver new solutions such as SS7, high density gateways, transcoding, and most recently a complete line of Session Border Controllers, which squarely address the service provider space. This has produced solid customer wins for Sangoma and having a seasoned leader of Mark's caliber will help Sangoma garner even more traction in the critical carrier and UC markets,”  president and chief executive officer of Sangoma Bill Wignall commented in a statement.

Prior to joining Sangoma, Wager was at Sonus, where he was one of their key sales leaders. In the span of his 25 year career, Wagner has served companies like Magellan Networks Systems, SHS Communications, ALLSwitch Inc., and Simplified Telesys.

“I am very excited to join Sangoma's team. I look forward to contributing to their success and that of their customers. Few companies in our industry have made such significant leaps in such a short period of time as Sangoma and I've been watching them closely the past couple of years. I'm confident we can further accelerate by helping carriers and the UC community with our innovative new products, built upon Sangoma's reputation for quality at reasonable prices, offering our customers some of the best value on the market,” Wagner said in a statement.

Few months back, Sangoma released a new product called Lync Express that is making it easier for small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) to take advantage of Microsoft Lync as a complete unified communications and business phone system.
