The communication technologies and services are evolving in response to application demand and research innovation. These changes are motivating to create much larger range of communication services with highly versatile functionality than traditional systems.

To resolve access problems across business-critical data, voice, and video network configuration, Oracle (News - Alert) has released Oracle Communications Converged Application Server 5.1, a carrier-grade, standards-based development and deployment platform for next-generation communications services.

This new communication service offers integrated support for Java, Web services and IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) (IMS) standards, enabling communications service providers (CSPs) to rapidly deploy voice, video and data services.

Oracle Communications Converged Application Server 5.1 is the part of the Oracle Communications service delivery product family. It enables CSPs to monetize networking and IT assets via a highly available, scalable and reliable service deployment architecture.

This solution accelerates application development and network services deployment and built-in support, maintenance tools and a creation environment based on industry-standard Java Enterprise Edition a Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) (SIP) Servlet standards. This solution supports messages session relay protocol (MSRP) and request for comments (RFC) 4875 and 4976, which are used for instant messaging and file transfer between SIP sessions. It also orchestrates messages to services across multiple applications with custom application routing.

It also helps to reduce implementation costs via a pre-configured, converged load balancer preserving SIP and Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) message consistency across clustered servers. It enables cloud deployment with out-of-the-box virtualization based on Oracle Virtual Machine to provide a virtualized service deployment foundation and a reduced hardware footprint.

Glen Ragoonanan, senior analyst, Analysys (News - Alert) Mason said in a statement "As stated in the Analysys Mason Service Delivery Platforms: Worldwide Market Shares 2011' report, Oracle leads the telecommunications application server market segment. With this new release, Oracle demonstrates its continued commitment to investment and innovation in this important segment."
