The unified communications (UC) sector has been witnessing rapid challenges emanating from the ever growing needs of individual and enterprise customers across the globe.
Broadview Networks (News - Alert), a company that offers network-based business communications solutions, has acquired select unified communications assets from Massachusetts based technology enterprise Common Voices, Inc. In addition, Broadview has hired the existing development team at Common Voices.
As a result of the acquisition, the source code for Common Voices’ NowMessage, an advanced unified communications solution, is now intellectual property of Broadview Networks. Previously, OfficeSuite, Broadviews’ cloud based phone solution, had utilized NowMessage technology under a license agreement.
“Common Voices proved to us years ago that their approach to unified messaging is leading-edge, well-designed and highly flexible,” said Ken Shulman, chief technology officer and chief information officer at Broadview Networks. “With this acquisition, we are growing our proprietary intellectual property in unified communications. We can take full advantage of our software development expertise and integration skills to innovate and bring more differentiated products to our unique OfficeSuite service portfolio.”
Products and services offered by Broadview Networks comprise local and long-distance voice and data communications, premises-based and patented hosted VoIP systems, data services, and an array of managed and professional services. With these recent additions, Broadview’s well known OfficeSuite platform will be enhanced to provide a better experience to its customers.
Across the globe, both individuals and enterprises are seeking to leverage increasingly available telecommunication solutions to make the best of their time and effort. The latest development will help Broadview Network create cutting edge solutions to fulfill the latest needs rising in the communications sector.
“Our customers are increasingly communicating with their clients through a wide variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops and other devices inside and outside of traditional office environments,” commented Brian Crotty, chief operating officer at Broadview Networks. “With OfficeSuite, we have over 100,000 business professionals enjoying the benefits of unified communications today and we expect that we can continue to help customers remain connected.”
In March 2013, Broadview Networks announced that Robert Westervelt, senior vice-president of Business and Partner Development, will lead Broadview’s nationwide development of new business partners and distribution channels. Westervelt will continue to report to Brian Crotty, company’s chief operating officer; and will focus on finding new partners and expanding those recently announced, including Henry Schein and RCA-branded service.
