DSP Group (News - Alert), Inc., one of the biggest wireless chipset vendors for converged communications, just revealed that Intelbras has chosen XciteR (DSP Group's VoIP chipset solution) to power its IP phones and digital enhanced cordless telecommunications (DECT (News - Alert)) IP phones. Intelbras, a Brazilian company, makes and distributes analog phones, DECT phones, and products related to IP phones to the Latin American market.
XciteR is a highly-innovative system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution that has proven to be a very powerful solution for developing IP phones, whether or not they implement DECT technology. Intelbras has been taking advantage of its previous relationship with DSP Group to get its hands on XciteR, lowering material expenses and make its newer generation of IP phones come into the market faster.
Intelbras IP phones are made to appeal to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as consumers. Its phones make the transition from analog easier and provide a range of features such as adding high definition voice and DECT/CAT-iq.
Within XciteR, there's an ARM926 application processor powered by Linux OS and another DSP processor, making it a very versatile solution for VoIP endpoint development. Features within XciteR include HD voice and echo cancellation, providing a very crystalline experience in speaker mode.
Susana Brockveld, business unit director at Intelbras, said, “Our decision to use DSP Group's XciteR in our new VoIP product line is driven by the chipset's high level of integration, superior cost-performance, and DECT/CAT-iq support. The solution offers us a solid foundation for our developing in a wide range of low-cost, feature-rich IP phones which will help us further solidify our leadership in the rapidly-evolving LATAM VoIP market.”
Fredy Rabih, VP of VoIP product management at DSP Group, added, “We're pleased to be working with Intelbras on the development of its next-generation series of IP phones. The alliance strengthens our long-term partnership with Intelbras in the VoIP space, as we together continue to set the industry standard for IP phones, grow market share, and move full stream ahead on our robust VoIP roadmap.”
