Recently, TeleGeography (News - Alert) research findings, which were reported on TMCnet, indicated that the International voice business is still fragile, as the wholesale voice traffic has grown 30 percent while the wholesale revenue has remained flat ending with $13.2 billion of revenue in 2011.
In an effort to address the challenges faced by service providers to run an efficient International voice business without upfront investment, Tata Communications (News - Alert), a provider communications solutions, has launched a new suite of hosted tools and managed services, Voice Business Apps.
With this launch, Tata Communications becomes the first carrier to launch a suite of hosted tools and managed services that will drive the efficiency of International voice business management.
Offering many capabilities and covering all the key aspects of the International voice business, the new Voice Business Apps helps in reducing capital expenditure and risk by addressing common business challenges, such as network standardization, migration to IP, fraud management and supplier management.
The new Voice Business Apps is also empowered with Tata Communications' Virtual Point of Presence (PoP) capability. This capability facilitates carriers to send traffic using the company’s IP infrastructure while remaining in control of their own routing, as well as an array of hosted tools and managed services.
According to Tata Communications, the new Voice Business Apps is also powered by the Best Value Routing engine, which identifies the optimal balance of cost and quality for each call, and the back office tools. This makes it easy to track efficiency and costs.
The services, tools and systems available in the new Voice Business Apps are either provided by Tata Communications on demand or are managed on behalf of a carrier.
Overall, the new Voice Business Apps is expected to reduce operating expenses, increase efficiency while improving service quality without upfront investment.
David James, practice peader, wholesale, Ovum (News - Alert), said in a statement, "This development demonstrates Tata Communications' ability to build on its extensive experience, global reach and economies of scale in the international voice market to offer innovative services and flexible partnering options to suit service providers' changing needs."
Currently, the Tata Communicationss global network includes advanced and large submarine cable networks and a Tier-1 IP network with connectivity to more than 200 countries and territories across 400 PoPs, as well as nearly 1 million square feet of data centre and collocation space worldwide.
In recent news, Tata Communications launched its International HD voice termination service to enable mobile network operators (MNOs) to route international HD calls via end-to-end IP without transcoding.
