IP Phones from snom Find New Opportunity with Flowroute

A great new combination in voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has come together in the form of snom technology's lineup of IP phones and Flowroute's VoIP service, as snom announces that the two technologies are officially interoperable. With this announcement comes several different models in the snom line that offer the necessary connectivity, opening up a variety of new options for those looking for VoIP service.

The phones that qualify under this announcement are snom's 7xx series, which also are Lync-qualified for those businesses interested in getting more Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync functionality involved in the wider picture, as well as the 8xx series and the M9 cordless phone line. After extensive testing, the devices are found to work well with Flowroute's wholesale prepaid VoIP systems, which include not only SIP trunking but also direct inward dialing (DID) systems, making the whole system flexible and scalable, providing just as much—or as little—service as a business might need at the time.

The two companies are an excellent fit, especially given that Flowroute offers SIP trunking services and the snom lineup of phones offers eighth generation SIP firmware, making the two readily able to work together. But even despite this excellent fit, Flowroute is just one service provider among several that snom is proving interoperable alongside, with snom constantly in the hunt for new providers that work well with snom's lineup of hardware.

Better still, snom is offering up a broad line of hardware models besides, as the 7xx line by itself encompasses three different models of devices. There's the snom 760 UC edition that offers a high-resolution color display, wideband high definition audio support and PBX (News - Alert)-style controls, as well as the snom 720 UC edition with advanced telephony features—including 18 different programmable keys and support for 12 SIP phone lines—and finally, the snom 710, a more basic phone for simple uses. The snom 8xx list offers two subclasses, meanwhile, including the snom 821 with a color display and integrated one gigabit switch, as well as five-way conferencing support and the snom 870 with a touch-screen color display and the ability to perform call swapping functions.

This move is a win-win for both companies; not only can Flowroute offer up a reliable and notable line of hardware for its various customers who either don't have hardware in place or are looking for a better version—and there's nothing like being able to help with the full range of questions and issues a potential client might encounter to provide extra goodwill from those same customers—while at the same time, snom gets access to a pool of customers it might not formerly have had: those who use Flowroute services for VoIP access.

While it's good news for snom and Flowroute alike, the real winners here are the customers who get access to not only another route for VoIP access but also new, high-quality hardware to go along with it. That's the kind of thing that's hard to turn down, and gives businesses a whole new option for getting the most out of VoIP dollars.
