Vitelity Unveils smartDID at ITEXPO Las Vegas

Vitelity Communications may have been bringing innovation to communications at ITEXPO Miami 2013 earlier this year, mostly through interoperability, but the company’s story at ITEXPO Las Vegas this week revolves around innovation of a different kind. Specifically, the telephony solutions provider is changing the way phone numbers are purchased with the announcement of smartDID at TMC’s technology event.

This new offering accomplished this by prebundling VoIP services that have long been available separately, which allows the telephony industry to reach the same consumer product expectations associated with POTS (plain old telephone service). Specifically, smartDID phone numbers are enhanced with such features as E911, 411 directory assistance listings, outbound CNAM/LIDB listing, white/yellow page listings, MyScribbit voicemail transcription and SMS.

Best of all, these features come with each phone number at no additional cost. Considering smartDID starts at only $1.49 per month, with lower pricing for wholesale customers, this is a legitimate game changer.

"By adding smartDIDs to our product lineup, we are giving our customers access to business-critical phone features without the added monthly expense. With other VOIP providers, a phone number with all these services could easily exceed $5 a month; for companies with lots of numbers this becomes cost prohibitive," said Scott Navratil, Vitelity's VP of sales and marketing, in a statement.

Aside from saving businesses money, smartDID also makes the phone number process much simpler, while making it more profitable for wholesalers.

It seems the focus has been put on DID numbers lately, with many telephony solutions providers aiming to make the setting up of PBX systems as simple as possible. For example, VoIP Innovations recently spruced up DID management and organization with its My DID groups feature.

It’s likely, then, that more DID-related features will continue to be rolled out, resulting in increasing simplicity and cost savings. Vitelity’s smartDID is a huge step in this direction.
