BroadSoft, a vendor of Voice over Internet Protocol application software, has announced its 10-year anniversary.
Founded in 1998 – but hey, you’ve already figured that out – company officials say in the last five years, BroadSoft’s (News - Alert) annual revenue has grown more than 1,000 percent and the number of employees has increased from 84 to almost 300.
Company officials attribute the growth and success to what they call the firm’s “forward-thinking vision of IP convergence, product innovation and ability to secure top-tier customers around the world.”
Last week Alteva, a vendor of enterprise hosted VoIP in North America, publicly thanked the Philadelphia Phillies for their prize of two bushels of oranges. Alteva entered into a friendly wager with its Tampa Bay-based competitor, Televations, over the 2008 World Series which the Phillies won four games to one.
The bet between the two hosted phone system providers had Alteva putting up a dozen cheese steaks against Telovations’ (News - Alert) two bushels of oranges.
The pot was sweetened by BroadSoft’s giving the winner two complimentary tickets (a value of $1,690) to Connections 2009, a conference in Arizona.
Highlights of the past ten years for the firm:
August 1999 - Unveils architecture for the delivery of telephony services.
December 2000 - Introduces first software-based VoIP media server.
September 2001 - Partners with Siemens (News - Alert) to be first to test SIP interoperability.
October 2003 - Hosts first VoIP industry conference, BroadSoft Connections, for senior executives from telcos around the world.
January 2004 - Brings enhanced telephony to the residential market.
October 2008 - Partners with Microsoft (News - Alert) for Hosted Unified Communications.
Earlier this year, Firepond announced that BroadSoft’s product was implemented on the Firepond CPQ OnDemand application. BroadSoft has integrated Firepond CPQ OnDemand with Salesforce.com’s (News - Alert) application.
“The BroadSoft implementation uses many standard features of the Firepond CPQ OnDemand application, including rule-driven workflow, proposal generation, tiered discounting and data export,” said Firepond’s president Bradlee Sheafe at the time, adding that the implementation also uses features such as data-driven functions to “accomplish specialized tasks.”
