Unify Mobile Picks Blueslice's SDM Platform

Unify Mobile, a Dutch-based company working under the brand names Unify Mobile and in&phone has reportedly selected Blueslice’s SIP-enabled ngHLR, HSS and AAA, bundled into one fully integrated solution to start in&phone’s mobile operations in Switzerland.

The Blueslice (News - Alert) Converged Subscriber Platform 3000, used by Unify, is an integrated platform for multi-profile subscriber management in mobile, VoIP, Fixed Mobile Convergence (News - Alert) (FMC), and Machine-to-machine (M2M) networks.

It will help in&phone to offer its subscribers new roaming features and significantly reduce, even eliminate, roaming charges.

Additionally, Blueslice’s Multi-IMSI will also allow end-users to have a single subscription in the ngHLR containing multiple identities (IMSIs) in several countries or area codes.

This means that in&phone’s subscribers will be seen as “local” by the network and can roam across borders on multiple networks without paying roaming surcharges.

“Cost and quality have been the main driving forces for our customers. They want to use their mobile phone without the fear of paying huge roaming fees,” said Carel Begeer, Founder & Chief Development Officer, Unify Mobile. “Unify now has the tools to have multiple access technologies in multiple territories under a single user profile.”

Officials at Unify said that in&phones’ will also use Blueslice’s unique ngHLR-based Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) solution to allow its subscribers to roam easily between GSM/UMTS (News - Alert) and IP networks.

Blueslice’s FMC is 3GPP and IETF compliant. Supporting standard SIP, MAP, and ISC (IMS Service Control) interfaces, the Blueslice platform is also an IMS-compliant SIP Application Server, providing an enduring solution and protecting user’s investments.

Unify expects to reduce its network transmission costs and complexity, enabling the deployment of sophisticated next generation services and allowing for a smoother evolution to IMS-defined FMC just by creating a single platform.

“in&phone, like many carriers are faced with the challenges of modernizing aging networks while maintaining a high level of service at value prices. Blueslice is pleased to play a central role in this strategy” said Stephan Ouaknine (News - Alert), President & CEO, Blueslice Networks.
