Officials said that Starent’s intelligent In-line Services include enhanced charging, content filtering, network-based traffic optimization, application detection and optimization as well as a firewall to further improve network performance and reliability.

“We are pleased with the core network experience that Starent provides,” said Stephen Bye, Cox’s vice president of wireless.
“As we near our wireless launch, continuous visibility into our network remains key in ensuring a high performance customer experience,” Bye added.

Cellcom has selected Starent Networks to provide a comprehensive, end-to-end solution that extends coverage and offers next generation Femtocell (

As part of this agreement, Cellcom will be using Starent’s Femto Network Gateway, XT30 Service Convergence (

Alert) Platform and Session Control Manager.
As part of the Femtocell solution, Cellcom will be utilizing Starent’s Femtocell Network Gateway, which provides security and aggregation for the Femtocells accessing the network. The solution uses Starent’s Session Control Manger, which authenticates the mobile device, enables network connection and routes the traffic accordingly.
Starent’s Service Convergence Platform enables new services and provides interworking and migration of current voice and messaging services to next-generation SIP-based networks with enhanced service offerings.
