Acme Packet and Westcon Group Announce Global Distribution Agreement

Acme Packet, a major player in session border control solutions and Westcon Group, Inc., a specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, have entered into a global distribution agreement.

Thanks to the pact, Westcon Group (News - Alert) would now be a global distributor of Acme Packet Net-Net session border controllers (SBCs).

Officials with Acme Packet (News - Alert) said that the partnership enables Westcon’s resellers to have a single point of purchase for all their IP communication equipment needs making it easier to do business with enterprises, government agencies and contact centers and offer faster equipment deployments.

Company officials said that Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs enable the secure, high quality delivery of a broad range of IP interactive communications services and applications for enterprises, from basic VoIP to unified communications and collaboration to secure termination of SIP trunking services.

According to company officials, by partnering with Westcon, Acme Packet leverages Westcon's global sales force, technical capabilities and breadth of customer relationships to distribute Net-Net SBCs cost-effectively and ensure that enterprises can take full advantage of IP-enabled communications tools.

Since working with Westcon, Acme Packet has netted multiple reseller relationships throughout North America and Europe including Carousel Industries, a technology solutions provider that designs, implements and maintains powerful converged communication networks for enterprise customers nationwide.

“SBCs are quickly becoming an important part of the network for a wide set of enterprise customers. Having added Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs as part of a complete solution for IP communications, we can continue to deliver on our promise to leverage the best technology the market can offer,” said Jeff Gardner, CEO, Carousel Industries, in a statement.

Gardner said that this gives end-users increased assurance that they can rely on the company as their single source for all networking equipment, while enhancing the overall value of their enterprise IP communications investments.

“Large enterprises are demanding applications that foster productivity and collaboration,” said Gahn Lane, vice president, service providers, the Americas for Westcon Group.
Lane said that Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs ensure that a large enterprise can deliver secure, high quality unified communications across its IP network borders.

“This level of secure access within an IP environment is critical, whether you are an SMB or an enterprise customer,” he said.

Seamus Hourihan (News - Alert), executive vice president of marketing and product management for Acme Packet said that the interoperability and security challenges for enterprises planning to deploy SIP trunks make Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs a critical part of the network infrastructure.

“Westcon helps resellers and ultimately government, contact center and enterprise customers better understand how to tackle these new challenges,” said Hourihan.
