General Telecom, a provider of switching and network management services, has stated that their General Telecom RouteNGN route engine for VoIP/ TDM traffic over next-generation networks now comes packed with new and expanded least cost routing "LCR" capabilities.

According to the company, RouteNGN returns real fiscal gains to carriers by extending the usable life of existing network gear, increasing the cost efficiency of every call, and simplifying the management of the LCR and routing processes.

The solution is also compatible with any RFC-compliant SIP agent such as a switch, gateway, and/or SBC, and it enables users to leverage their existing assets, both people and equipment.

Randy Weinberger (News - Alert), general manager of General Telecom, commented that in today's marketplace, the amount of time it takes to become operational and deploy services directly impacts the profitability of service providers. With their RouteNGN powerful cloud-based routing application, providers can deploy within weeks, instead of months, without incurring CAPEX - a truly competitive time-to-market advantage.

Clients have acknowledged that the RouteNGN least cost routing technology helps in lowering the cost of IP and TDM voice termination services offered to customers, through better routing accuracy and efficiency. RouteNGN technology helps in changing routing decisions quickly which translates to greater profitability and better customer service.

Some of the new capabilities added to the RouteNGN high-capacity, least cost routing tool include: The solution's API can be used by carriers to build custom tools that can be integrated with RouteNGN to connect with existing BSS/OSS systems which removes the need for owning proprietary software; Using trunk group tagging, clients can route and blend both VoIP and TDM network traffic, reducing manual processes that require separate business rules for TDM and VoIP networks; RouteNGN can now easily scale to 1000 cps or more to easily satisfy network demands of premium NGN apps.

Steve Smith, executive vice president of sales and marketing for General Telecom has stated that over the past year they've worked closely with their customer and partner base to extract pure signal feedback on the network management equipment and services that will enable them to move quickly from concept to cash flow. With these extended capabilities that are available now, RouteNGN is the fiber that ties a network together.
