Architelos Launches Online Tool for Domain Name System

Architelos Inc. has launched Business Case Builder (BCB), a secure online tool specially developed for the Domain Name System (DNS) industry. BCB will assist top level domain (TLD) applicants build a complete business case and financials by helping them make the assumptions and input the required data.

The tool will also help in making projections of cost, revenue and return on investment based on both cash and deferred payment modes that exist in the DNS industry. It will also provide realistic predictions for domain name registration and renewals. The output of the tool can be saved with graphical representations and personalized Key Performance Indicators in an Excel spreadsheet.

In a release, Alexa Raad, CEO of Architelos, said that “Our tool prompts users with questions they may not have anticipated but that are essential for an accurate business case necessary to attract investors.”

The TLDs will have to pay a one-time license fee to access the BCB tool. The TLDs can get the business case, created by BCB, reviewed by the experienced team at Architelos. Alternatively, they could ask the Architelos to create a business case from the scratch.

John Matson, co-founder of Architelos, said that, “With an estimated $500,000 initial investment or more to apply for a new TLD, developing a solid business case is a wise investment. The Business Case Builder will help our clients and their potential investors make informed decisions.”

In other news, Raad predicted that deregulation of the domain name market would make it imperative for current players to take stock of their position. As the barriers between registries and registrars were broken down, it was inevitable that the domain name system would expand, bringing many new top-level domain names in its wake.
