Siemens Enterprise Communications (News - Alert) introduced OpenScape Session Border Controller (SBC) to deliver superior Voice over IP (VoIP) security to OpenScape Voice customers.
OpenScape SBC is designed specifically to address security and interoperability issues of SIP-based VoIP traffic; it is architected for SIP trunking termination from multiple service providers. It also delivers secure connectivity from the enterprise data center to branch locations and hosted voice applications.
OpenScape SBC is said to save OpenScape Voice customers’ money when implementing SIP trunking and remote workers. It is deployed on industry-standard servers which provide customers with an aggressive return on investment. OpenScape SBC terminates a SIP session outside of the enterprise voice network. As a result, the traffic is ensured to originate from an authorized source. As there are no irregularities for this product, traffic is allowed to pass to the enterprise voice LAN. The voice network is protected by this process which enables fluid communication for enterprise, teleworkers, hosted services or branch locations.
OpenScape SBC supports up to 4,000 simultaneous sessions on a single server, servicing potentially over 15,000 users. Both local and geographical redundancy options are available with this product for organizations which require business continuity. It effectively manages the secure flow of voice traffic. With a per-user granular pricing model, it is said to offer a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) in terms of licensing.
OpenScape SBC is designed to work specifically with the OpenScape Voice solution, with a graphical, unified management and administration interface. The total OpenScape deployment is implemented quickly with this product which also makes system administration simple and intuitive. OpenScape SBC enables Siemens Enterprise (News - Alert) Communications to provide an end-to-end, SIP-based telephony portfolio that is scalable from small to large enterprises which can be administrated from a single point. With the support of the partner Acme Packet (News
- Alert), Siemens Enterprise Communications will continue to offer SBC solutions for large to very large enterprise deployments and for organizations that have standardized on Acme Packet SBCs.
OpenScape Session Border Controller is available now globally from Siemens Enterprise Communications and authorized channel partners.
