President Obama Hires Larissa Herda as Member of NSTAC


President Obama has appointed Larissa Herda, tw telecom (News - Alert) chairman, CEO and president, as a member of the President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.


“I look forward to working closely with the other members of the committee in providing advice and insight to the President on critical matters of national security, cybersecurity and emergency preparedness,” Herda said, in a statement

Herda has more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications and high-tech industries. Her appointment by the President as a member of NSTAC will provide the committee with her invaluable experience as the head of a major telecommunications provider that specializes in complex communications technologies.

NSTAC is comprised of up to 30 chief executives from major telecommunications companies, network service providers, information technology, finance, and aerospace companies. These companies work together to offer the President with advice, expertise, as well as robust reviews and recommendations.

The primary of goal of NSTAC is to provide recommendations in an effort to assure vital telecommunications links through any event or crisis and to help the U.S. Government maintain a reliable, secure, and resilient national communications posture.

Herda is a member of the board of directors at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado and is also on the school's advisory board for the Center for Education in Social Responsibility.
