Yougetitback has announced that the company’s Mobile Superhero helps mobile devices to be locked down and located around the world if they are stolen
A message is posted on the welcome screen of the device explaining that the device is deactivated and gives the finder an option to report the missing device when the device is misplaced or stolen,. This way, thieves are deterred and finders are encouraged to return it. Mobile Superhero can take a picture of the individual seeking to operate the device and deliver it to the owner on supported camera-equipped smart phones.
“Consumers use their mobile phones for nearly every aspect of their lives, so it’s easy to forget that the device contains valuable information that can be a goldmine for criminals who may get their hands on a missing phone,” stated Paul Prendergast, co-founder and head of sales, Yougetitback. “Preventing information loss is a top priority for Yougetitback and with our Superhero solutions, consumers can rest easy that their information is protected in the event their device goes missing.”
Immediately attracting attention and making the device a considerable risk to handle, the user can activate a scream feature upon locking, once it becomes clear a device is missing or stolen. The phone can be easily located, once the device is locked down. To locate the device, mobile Superhero uses GPS, Wi-Fi, cell tower tracking and other features – which Yougetitback believes offers considerably more effective tracking than competitive offerings.
In February 2010, the company won a contract from a major mobile operator in Europe, reports SiliconRepublic.com. This new deal will see Yougetitback.com (News - Alert) security software installed on the operator's new smartphones. A similar deal is also being negotiated with a US electronics retailer to protect laptops. Yougetitback.com's software technology allows people who find missing handset or laptops to contact their owner. It also allows a device to be tracked via GPS and locked down if stolen.
