GENBAND Successfully Completes First PC2.0 IPv6 Call and Establishes Interworking between IPv4 and IPv6 PC2.0 Endpoints

GENBAND (News - Alert), provider of IP infrastructure and application solutions, announced the successful completion of the first IPv6 call between PacketCable 2.0 compatible SIP communications application server and IPv6 PC2.0 Embedded Digital Voice Adapter. The company completed the PC2.0 IPv6 call testing at a CableLabs (News - Alert) Interoperability Event held in Louisville, CO September 21, 2011. IPv6 which replaces IPv4 has effectively addressed space exhaustion challenges while enhancing real-time communication security.

The tests employed the PacketCable specified SIP signalling protocol, an established standard used in voice and multimedia communications across MSO IP networks. The PC2.0 IPv6 call was processed over the company's S3 Session Border Controller and its C20 Converged Softswitch and A2 Communications Application Server platform.

In a release, BG Kumar, GENBAND's President of Networking and Applications, said, "The CableLabs hosted event created the ideal environment to trial PC2.0 IPv6 calls and interoperability with IPv4. Performing what we believe to be the first successful PC2.0 IPv6 call is in point of fact a significant milestone and is evidence of our support for MSO migration to IPv6 using PacketCable specifications. We look forward to employing breakthroughs achieved through this strategic industry collaboration in our ongoing product development."

GENBAND's MSO solutions have already been employed by more than 80 MSO/cable operators worldwide. Currently, GENBAND occupies the top slot in market share in cable VoIP deployments indicated Dell' (News - Alert)Oro Group, innovation firm. The PC2.0 IPv6 call and the successful interworking established between IPv4 and IPv6 PC2.0 endpoints conducted in a MSO operation environment has effectively demonstrated the capabilities of GENBAND's MSO solutions.

Headquartered in Frisco, Texas, GENBAND has established itself as a global leader in providing IP infrastructure solutions for enterprise clients and service and content providers. The company's suite of solutions which include Switching, Applications, Networking and Service solutions, are used for developing communications networks via IP research.
