Lookout Mobile Security, specializing in mobile security solutions, announced the launch of comprehensive protection for all Android (News - Alert) tablets.
In a release, Kevin Mahaffey, co-founder and CTO of Lookout said, “Mobile devices are now the dominant computing platform in the world. As people opt to use smartphones and tablets instead of PCs, they want peace of mind—and Lookout gives it to them.”
Lookout has proved to be successful in protecting over 12 million people against mobile threats including malware, spyware and unsafe Web sites. Lookout provides the same security protection and find-my-phone functionality to all tablet devices, such as Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich Android devices beside WiFi (News
- Alert) only devices.
According to company sources Lookout users will be able to protect and manage multiple mobile devices from a single online destination. It works with all platforms including Android phones and tablets, and iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.
Lookout allows people to back up, find a missing device when it is lost or stolen, and also manage the security of their phones remotely. Lookout automatically updates over-the-air in order to keep devices and data safe, said officials.
Tablet sales have multiplied many times as many people are using them as miniature computers to share, store and transmit valuable information. This makes it all the more necessary to protect these devices. Lookout’s free Android app, Lookout Premium provides security, data backup, and find-my-phone services.
It also offers comprehensive security and privacy protection which is available for Android tablet and smartphone owners also, added officials
Lookout protects mobile devices and networks by balancing computing power between the device and the cloud. The solution ensures always-on protection that doesn’t interfere with device performance.
Also it was revealed that Lookout’s Mobile Threat Network scans hundreds of thousands of apps a month besides being the largest database of smartphone applications. The protection offered to mobile devices also covers any app store or download site via its Lookout API.
Lookout Mobile Security announced in August 2011 that Android users are two and a half times more likely to encounter malware on their mobile device than they were only six months ago, according to a report on TMCnet.
