MaxMind and TeleSign Partner to Provide Best-in-Class Multilayer Fraud Prevention

TeleSign, a provider of Internet fraud prevention and user authentication solutions, and MaxMind, a provider of IP geolocation and online fraud detection solutions, have partnered to provide best-in-class multilayer fraud prevention.

Officials with TeleSign claimed that the combination of the company’s geolocation and minFraud fraud-risk scoring services and TeleSign’s telephone verification and PhoneID delivers a best-in-breed alliance for fighting against a wide variety of fraud.

"We wanted to give clients a solution that can protect against a multitude of threats," said Jason Ketola, business development manager at MaxMind, in a statement.

Ketola said that through partnering with TeleSign, it gives the company confidence that it can provide customers with the high level of security they need.

"Our joint solution has enabled clients to achieve significant, measurable reductions in fraud, spam, and chargebacks," said Darren Berkovitz, VP of business development at TeleSign.

Berkovitz said that the company looks forward to working with MaxMind to deliver innovative fraud fighting products in 2012 and beyond.

Back in October, TeleSign had announced the next-generation of its PhoneID solution, which helps online businesses automate fraud prevention using phone data.

PhoneID 2.0 provides increased ability to detect suspicious telephone numbers, which enables Web-based companies to better identify and stop Internet fraud and spam in a way that is easy to implement, and cost-effective.

With the inescapable use of the Internet for retail, financial transactions and access to sensitive personal data, cybercrime is increasing and Web-based organizations need an easy way to minimize online fraud.

Furthermore, PhoneID 2.0 provides a 65 percent increase in the granularity of information, resulting in more accurate fraud prevention. In addition, the service now supports telephone portability for all North American Numbering plan countries.
