GL Communications (News - Alert) announced that it has unveiled its PacketScan software with triggering and search capabilities for “Calls of Interest”.
In a release Karthik Ramalingam, development manager at GL said, “Quality of VoIP service has always been a concern for carriers and service providers who know that being proactive in monitoring voice quality means keeping customers happy. There are free applications such as Wireshark that can be used to capture and listen to u-law and A-law calls. It can also be used to view reports of packet conditions such as packet loss and jitter that degrade quality.”
“Multiple PacketScans can be integrated with a centrally connected PacketScanWEB. QoS parameters like MOS/R-Factor for voice calls, Media Delivery Index for video calls and SIP Performance Metrics can be obtained. Triggers and Actions feature helps to analyze calls of interest. Also wide range of codecs are supported such as AMR, AMR-WB, EVRC and more,” Ramalingam added.
PacketScan features capabilities like real-time capture and monitoring of IP traffic, segregation and capture of VoIP calls and collection of statistics about calls. Also it has rich graphics, ladder diagrams, CDRs (Call Data Records), and CODEC. The solution can monitor, report, analyze, and capture calls.
According to officials PacketScan can now work in tandem with GL’s VoiceBand Analyzer VBA and Call Data Records applications to produce comprehensive call detail reports along with audio files.
Besides, PacketScan can also serve as a stand-alone tool and as a probe in a distributed system via a central database like Oracle (News
- Alert) as implemented in PacketScanWeb. This is a central monitoring system that provides a comprehensive view of network performance.
PacketScan can also automatically start monitoring traffic with filters, trigger actions, and parameters that are previously saved. It features capabilities to automatically connect to a remote database for PacketScanWeb applications. This offers remote monitoring applications using a laptop which can be setup and configured for plug-n-play testing, added officials.
GL Communications announced the launch of its Near Real-time Voice-band Analyzer software for monitoring voice band traffic over VoIP, TDM, 2-Wire and wireless networks in November 2011 according to a TMCnet release.
