TransNexus's NexOSS Least Cost Routing Software Now Has VoIP Fraud Detection

TransNexus (News - Alert) recently announced the inclusion of a new fraud detection module into version 5 of its NexOSS Least Cost Routing software. The company confirmed that a new fraud detection module had been incorporated into the NexOSS 5.0 system to help address the issue of traffic pumping fraud within the VoIP industry.

In a release, Jim Dalton (News - Alert), president of TransNexus, said, “Fraud has been an issue for traditional telephone companies for years. But it was never a factor for VoIP services until recently. More and more, we hear about SIP phones and SIP PBXs that have been hacked and utilized to make unauthorized calls costing thousands of dollars.”

NexOSS 5.0 has been designed to function with the TransNexus OSPrey routing server which results in multiple benefits for VoIP carriers such as least cost routing, number portability and increased quality of service controls as well as traffic analysis and generation of billing reports. By including a new fraud detection module, TransNexus has successfully added an extra layer of analysis and protection capability to the solution.

Dalton went on to say, “This release of NexOSS addresses the major issues reported by our customers. With the addition of the fraud detection and QoS monitoring features, NexOSS 5.0 is leading the way in next generation least cost routing and VoIP network management.”

NexOSS 5.0 comes with smart monitoring features which have designed and included to detect any unusual increase in call traffic to a particular destination. Anytime such unusual spikes occur, a temporary block is placed by the NexOSS system on the route. Additionally, the system automatically generates SNMP and email alarms which help in controlling losses from such fraud without impacting legitimate calls.
