Equinox Information Systems, a company that helps others manage their telecommunications systems, just announced its collaboration with FastTrack Communications that will involve the “Protector” fraud management solution. FastTrack communications is a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) that works within the borders of the states of Colorado and New Mexico. Its desire to use Protector comes from the fact it's the most cost-effective and efficient solution for fighting fraud in the telecommunications sector.
John Monday, director of Network Engineering and Operations, FastTrack, said, “Protector will allow us to better identify and respond to fraudulent activity on our network. The prospect of monitoring usage records in real time and having an integrated case management and investigation tool is very appealing.”
Equinox Information Systems' Protector chiefly helps telecom corporations track and take action against any suspicious or possibly fraudulent activity in real-time. Its unique interface looks at metered usage from subscribers to the service and compares it to expected usage. If these two values don't match, the interface raises a red flag in the system.
According to EIS' website, telecom companies lose about $80 billion each year from telecom fraud. The company's Protector system will help these companies monitor their network usage in real time, receive alerts automatically, quickly distinguish between a fraudulent call and sincere customer use of telephone systems, and automatically disable the telephony subscription.
Its fraud detection methods compare call patterns, monitor call activity, and compares subscriber information to what's on Equinox's client hot list. The hot list is very similar to a blacklist in an IP network. It helps distribute filtration parameters between companies.
