According to Semaphore sources, the Kingfisher RTU series features a RTU line with an embedded programming environment compliant with both IEC (News - Alert) 61131-3 and 61499. The RTU series is based on an automation technology platform for SCADA applications.

Kingfisher also features a DNP3 protocol suite, security platform, along with a communications networks and redundant functionality. The Kingfisher Plus+ serves as a modular RTU, which can be expanded up to 192 communications ports and 1024 I/O points, clarified officials in a release.

Also it features powerful platforms that use Web technologies and push messaging via e-mail, SMS text, and FTP.

Officials added that the rugged T-BOX systems were easily configurable and more cost effective when compared to PLC and SCADA architectures that are in use presently.

Both the product lines from Semaphore, namely Kingfisher and T-BOX RTU, suit the needs of monitoring and control applications that are prevalent in the broadcast, telecom, infrastructure management, oil and gas, power, transportation, water and wastewater industries.

Semaphore announced plans to display its Kingfisher RTU and T-BOX RTU product lines at the ENTELEC 2012 Conference & Expo scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17, 2012.
