In an effort to enable the MSOs to expand their offering with the introduction of new services geared toward home security and home care, The Bosch division Security Systems and GreenPeak Technologies, have forged a strategic alliance.
The Bosch division Security Systems is a global supplier of security, safety, and communications products, solutions and services. With an aim to help protect lives and properties, the company offers a comprehensive range of products including video surveillance, intrusion detection, fire detection and voice evacuation systems as well as access control and management systems. Netherlands- based GreenPeak is a semiconductor company, offering ZigBee silicon solutions for the smart home. With its operations in Belgium, Japan and Korea, GreenPeak is focused in developing new wireless technologies for consumer electronics and smart home applications, demonstrating rapid growth and adoption by major customers.
The two companies will collaborate to deliver a complete end-to-end solution for the MSOs seeking to complement their four play business offering comprising telephone, cable TV, Internet access and cell phone services with Smart Home services like home security.
The bundling of new services with the existing ones will allow these MSOs to increase their average revenue per user and reduce subscriber churn.
“Smart Home services like remote control of doors, thermostats and lighting, all centrally monitored and controlled by the set-top box/gateway, are very enticing for cable and service operators. These new services will provide both increased customer loyalty as well as additional revenues. We are happy to join forces with GreenPeak because their silicon guarantees robust and reliable interference-free communication of our high end sensors throughout the whole home,” member of the Board of Bosch Security Systems, Peter Ribinski explained in a statement.
In a statement, the partnering companies announced that they are going to demonstrate their Smart Home system during IBC2012, being held in Amsterdam from 7th to 11th September.
The GreenPeak Smart House demonstration (booth 1.F90) will showcase applications in the area of energy efficiency and home care as well as home security, combining the premier technologies of GreenPeak and Bosch Security Systems.
“Several large operators are currently already deploying security services bundled with other service subscriptions. The set-top box is the gateway for these service offerings, effortlessly connecting numerous home sense and control devices in one integrated set of Smart Home applications. It is an honor to partner with Bosch. Our combined offer will enable operators to deliver a cost efficient end-to-end service, with a shorter time to market and the ability to develop and adjust their business offering to the changing market requirements,” founder and CEO of GreenPeak Technologies, Cees Links noted in a statement.
