Authentium Releases SafeCentral Version 1.3

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Authentium announced an updated version of SafeCentral, the company’s security companion for Web browsing. Version 1.3 provides a number of new features that enhance the user experience through faster performance, centralized manageability, expanded configuration options and support, and a sleeker user interface.

SafeCentral was first launched in April 2008 and Doug Brunt, president and CEO of Authentium said they knew the press and bloggers would pummel it with all the malware they could get their hands on, and try to break SafeCentral's security.

But nobody succeeded in compromising SafeCentral. Brunt pointed out that reviewers and customers instead suggested several enhancements they'd like to see in SafeCentral. Version 1.3 answers those requests and rolls in additional functionality, which Authentium thinks users will really appreciate.

“Frankly, this is the best version of SafeCentral yet, thanks to feedback we received from both the public and the media,” he said.

Authentium officials explain that SafeCentral provides the closest means to a physical transaction possible in the digital world. By using Authentium’s TSX (Trusted Security Extensions) technology SafeCentral monitors Windows system calls and shield Web browsing from threats like password-stealing Trojans and hacked DNS. Secure in TSX protection Internet users can confidently bank and shop on line even if their computer has been infected with the stealthiest of spyware.

Authentium has included several new features in SafeCentral 1.3 such as consistent, clean, intuitive interfaces for SafeCentral components, including SafeCentral Desktop, SafeCentral Browser, and My SafeCentral (formerly SafeCentral Portal). The company has redesigned all of these to provide a consistent user experience, with a clean look and feel.

The company has integrated Secure Favorites into users’ default Web browsers (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.), as well as the SafeCentral Browser. Security Alerts included in the new version detect risks and warn users before they provide personal information that could compromise their identity, even when they’re not using the SafeCentral Browser.

Thanks to centralized management, corporate partners can tailor a variety of SafeCentral’s visual and performance features. The features can be customized at any point before or after deployment, and changes are propagated to users without reinstalling SafeCentral.

Improved Account Manager in V 1.3 simplifies the process of trying, buying, and managing SafeCentral licenses for users. Also, regardless of the business's server configuration, all users will be now be able to install and use SafeCentral just like any other application on the corporate LAN.

The company is offering the latest version of SafeCentral at www.SafeCentral.com for an annual subscription of $39.95. Authentium is also offering users the option of trying SafeCentral for free for 30 days before subscribing.
