ProPay Unlocks ProtectPay Encrypted Credit Card Payment Processing

By Brendan B. Read, Senior Contributing Editor

Accepting credit card payments has become more secure and easier with the unlocking of ProtectPay, a fully encrypted payment card processing, transmission, and repository service from ProPay.

ProtectPay supplies merchants with a complete end-to-end secure option for processing credit card payments in real time and/or the secure storage and use of encrypted credit card data for future transactions, including repeat billing. It encrypts sensitive customers’ data directly from the customers so that their data never touches merchants’ systems. It also allows the data to be safely used for repeat billing and ongoing business transactions, ongoing payment data management, and data search and reporting capabilities.

The service delivers customer-retention/attraction peace of mind through the end-to-end encryption. The solution also facilitates refunds and credits. This combination of security and service can help merchants maintain and gain a competitive edge in keeping buyers and attracting new ones.

The features in ProtectPay significantly reduces or even eliminates the PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance burdens for merchants, service providers, and companies by providing a service to securely store, transmit, and process the data.  This frees up critical time and resources that can therefore be used to build and expand their core businesses. ProPay is fully PCI compliant and meets the stringent requirements of a Level 1 PCI Data Security Standard Service Provider.

By removing sensitive data enterprises can reduce or eliminate the risks and costs associated with storing card holder data which may include breach notification and loss of reputation. The fees paid for ProtectPay can save many more dollars in last-minute outbound teleservices programs, along with added PR costs and sales and income drops resulting from bad publicity that many especially smaller firms cannot afford.

ProtectPay works equally well with traditional bricks-and-mortar-, e-tail-, and contact center-handled transactions. Merchants that integrate with ProPay’s ProtectPay API and Payment Management Interface will be positioned to provide the ProtectPay solution in their web applications and customer service interfaces. This results in the sensitive customer data being entered in the ProPay system so it is never entered in the retailers’ system.

To learn more about PCI compliance, data security and what can be done, ProPay is holding a free Data Security Summit at the Snowbird Ski Resort in Salt Lake City, Utah.

“With data breaches becoming increasingly commonplace, the security and protection provided by ProtectPay is essential,” says Greg Pesci, ProPay Executive Vice President of Business Strategy. “Business owners should be enabled to focus on their core competencies and running their businesses. They should not be distracted by the risks of storage, transmission and processing of sensitive data.”
