SS8, Gorilla Science Team Implements WiMAX Network in Taiwan

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

SS8 (SS8 (News - Alert) Networks, Inc.), an independent provider of regulatory-compliant electronic surveillance solutions, has reportedly teamed with Gorilla Science and Technology to implement a WiMAX (News - Alert) network for a Communication Service Provider (CSP) in Taiwan.

Joe Lin, Vice President, Solution Sales, Gorilla Science and Technology said that the industry expertise of SS8 coupled with Gorilla's in-depth local knowledge of the CSP's (News - Alert) network infrastructure were critical for the successful WiMAX implementation for their customer.

"This partnership combines best-of-breed technology and local market acumen," adds TB Tan, SS8's Vice President of APAC Sales. "From network analysis to physical implementation, we now have a seamless, integrated, end-to-end solution to offer our customers."

Headquartered in the heart of Silicon Valley in Milpitas, California, SS8 claims that its solutions have been deployed in over 25 countries for the largest wire-line, wireless, cable, VoIP and satellite service providers. These voice and data installations can intercept more than 500 million subscribers, and serve local, regional and national law enforcement and intelligence agencies worldwide.

SS8 has recently acquired OCI Mobile, a technology provider specializing in providing highly secured surveillance solutions to government organizations. OCI's unique and patented technology will become an integral part of SS8's security solutions portfolio.

SS8 has also announced that it’s showcasing its expertise and best-of-breed lawful intercept solutions at Global Security Asia (GSA (News - Alert)) 2009, in Singapore, March 17th to Marc 19th.

The GSA conference is a gathering of homeland security professionals and lawful intercept providers, meant to maximize the dividends that science and technology can yield and minimize the investment of time. By bringing these professionals together in a collaborative setting, countries can more readily and efficiently share best practices and technology solutions.

Dr. Cemal Dikmen, Chief Technology Officer for SS8, will present "The Distinct Roles and Values of an End-to-End IP Intercept Solution" that will examine the unique capabilities and security benefits of a passive end-to-end solution: probe, mediation function and a reconstruction/playback element. He will describe how each component plays a crucial and specific role for the law enforcement agencies.
