By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributing Editor

Raytheon, a technology company specializing in defense and aerospace systems and a broad range of mission support services, has reportedly signed a partnership agreement with Narus, a provider of real-time traffic intelligence for the protection and management of large IP networks.

As per the terms of this agreement, Raytheon (News - Alert) will embed NarusInsight to monitor Internet Protocol (IP) traffic and provide critical knowledge to help manage and protect sensitive government networks.

"With this partnership, Raytheon and Narus (News - Alert) will provide the best possible solution to ensure our government's sensitive networks remain protected, while also providing capabilities to identify attackers," said Steve Hawkins, vice president of Raytheon Information Security Solutions.

Hawkins said this combined effort as the most comprehensive and robust dynamic defense solution available for government networks.

Raytheon selected NarusInsight after a comprehensive review of competing solutions. Narus’ real-time traffic intelligence technology allows for total visibility into IP traffic, from the network layer through services. Additionally, Narus has the capability to fully reconstruct all types of IP traffic, including VoIP, e-mail, Web mail and instant messages.

"We are proud to be selected by Raytheon as part of Narus' broader strategy to work with the best companies to meet government requirements around the world," said Greg Oslan (News - Alert), president and chief executive officer at Narus.

"As the foundation for the industry's most advanced real-time cyber protection, intercept and traffic management solutions, NarusInsight is critical to help meet today's national security challenges," added Oslan.

Headquartered in Waltham, Raytheon has been offering cybersecurity capabilities, including vulnerability and security assessments, enterprise information assurance services, monitoring and traffic analysis, information services and information operations.

The new solution from Raytheon and Narus is aimed at protecting and monitoring government networks enabling them to adopt a more strategic approach to cybersecurity.
