Pattern matching and software acceleration technology company Sensory Networks, has announced that NitroSecurity, a provider of network and information security solutions, selected its HyperScan software engine to boost the performance of their Intrusion (News - Alert) Prevention products.
As per the agreement, Sensory's HyperScan pattern matching software engine is expected to be integrated into the NitroGuard IPS product line in order to boost platform throughput performance.
A portable software library, HyperScan, is operating system (OS) independent and easy to integrate. Also, the engine includes rich regular expression support and comprises several specialized content scanning engines.
Officials said that each engine is customized for a specific task to deliver “excellent” content scanning performance for a wide variety of signatures, expressions and applications.
Additional specialization also allows HyperScan to take advantage of specific features found on modern CPU architectures, such as Intel's (News - Alert) vector extensions, according to officials.
“We are working with NitroSecurity to enhance the performance of their products by over 2X (News - Alert) using our HyperScan software,” said Sab Gosal, CEO at Sensory Networks.
NitroGuard is an Intrusion Prevention appliance that actively detects, analyzes, and protects the network from an array of security attacks, including viruses, worms, spyware, Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks, and other forms of malware, as well as unknown or zero-day attacks.
Each NitroGuard IPS uses extensive “out of the box” anomaly rules, and also allows enterprises to change or customize the response to various threats. Officials said it also use analytical capabilities to adjust anomaly rules to real network trends; easily edit rules or add new ones using standard SNORT syntax.
Additionally, NitroGuard IPS adds NitroView ESM to provide post-event data correlation and processing, including contextual forensics and compliance reporting.
“With Sensory's HyperScan software delivering advanced acceleration in a software form-factor, we have taken another major leap forward in IPS appliance innovation,” said Salo Fajer, chief strategy officer at NitroSecurity (News - Alert).
