EADS Defense and Security Selects Harris Stratex Networks

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

EADS Defense and Security, a systems solutions provider for armed forces and civil security worldwide, reportedly has selected Harris Stratex Networks’ end-to-end wireless broadband microwave transmission equipment and network service assurance solutions to support deployments of secured communications networks for the defense and security industries.

Harris officials said that as part of their two-year contract, the company would supply EADS (News - Alert) DS with products and services, including the Eclipse radio platform, NetBoss network management solutions and associated support services.

“Global defense and security organizations are increasingly moving to IP-based networks as an efficient means to seamlessly and securely exchange highly-sensitive information,” said Harald Braun, president and chief executive officer at Harris.

Braun said that as one of the largest global suppliers of wireless transmission systems and network service assurance solutions, Harris Stratex (News - Alert) is excited to supply its end-to-end networking technology and services to EADS DS, which have some of the most stringent technology and security requirements out there.

Officials said that Stratex Eclipse technology provides scalable capacity, TDM and IP network intelligence, and key security features required for mission critical networks. The high-capacity Eclipse radios are optimized for networks with flexible, high-bandwidth capabilities.

EADS with the help of the Eclipse platform, which features a number of TDM wireless transport capabilities, including Super-PDH transport and compact nodal networking, will be able to deploy increasingly stable, secure and future-proof communications networks.

Harris works in backhaul solutions for mobility and broadband networks. The company offers flexible and scalable wireless network solutions, backed by comprehensive professional services and support.

Officials at Harris say their company services all global markets, including mobile network operators, public safety agencies, private network operators, utility and transportation companies, government agencies and broadcasters.

Recently, Harris Stratex Networks (News - Alert), Inc. had announced that it has secured a contract with MagtiCom, a mobile operator in Georgia. Its Eclipse advanced nodal wireless networking platform will be deployed to provide end-to-end backhaul of both TDM and native Ethernet traffic, extending MagtiCom’s wireless infrastructure.
