Allowing its customers to manage access and security challenges across SAP (News - Alert) and non-SAP systems, Novell has announced the Compliance Management Platform extension for SAP environments. This will allow the customers to reduce the time spent on manual IT compliance by combining the identity and security information in their SAP solutions.

 

Novell (News - Alert) said its offering helps SAP customers comply with security mandates and government regulations as it offers a view of user activities across all applications in the enterprise. The Novell Compliance Management Platform version 1.0 has recently been certified by SAP for integration with the SAP BusinessObjects Access Control application.

 

The integrated solution will help companies solve IT and compliance-related issues in the enterprise by deploying an end-to-end compliant identity management solution. Also, SAP customers can now comply with security mandates and government regulations and save time and money in the process.

Managing user access and demonstrating adherence to corporate governance across various systems in an enterprise presents significant business and IT challenges,” said Jim Ebzery, senior vice president and general manager at Novell. “Novell’s Compliance Management Platform leverages SAP’s strength in user validation and couples it with our expertise in provisioning user access to form an integrated approach.”

 

Novell Compliance Management Platform extension for SAP environments consists of user provisioning, access control and security monitoring products from Novell. By integrating with SAP BusinessObjects Access Control via web services, the certified Novell Compliance Management Platform 1.0 enables compliant-based user provisioning functionality.

 

The Novell Compliance Management Platform extension for SAP environments is the second product coming from the partnership between Novell and SAP.

 

In January this year, Novell announced a new version of its storage solution. Novell Storage Manager 2.5 automates a comprehensive set of storage management tasks based on events, identities and policies that reside in the directory. Novell Storage Manager enables companies to deploy and automate the complete life cycle of user and group storage through identity-based
policies.
