RAE Systems Unveils Fixed Flammable, Toxic Gas Detection Solutions

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

RAE Systems Inc., a global provider of sensor networks that enable customers to identify safety and security threats in real time, has reportedly introduced new fixed toxic gas monitoring systems that include the RAEGuard sensor module and other three scalable controllers.

Jesper Jensen, RAE Systems’ fixed products manager said that, the new family of hardwired toxic and flammable gas detectors is in combination with their wireless semi-permanent solutions such as MeshGuard that gives RAE Systems unique product lines to support existing customers and new markets with cost-efficient solutions.

According to the company, the target applications include wastewater treatment plants, petroleum processing, natural gas fields, chemical plants, paper mills, power plants and steel mills. Also in place are applications and engineering support teams that will provide technical assistance in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific regions.

The company’s latest release RAEGuard S is a permanently installed gas detector for hydrocarbon combustible gases, carbon dioxide and a wide range of toxic gases. It provides both an analog (4-20mA) and digital (RS-485, ModBus RTU) output signal and uses a “smart” sensor module that can be calibrated offline.

It can be packaged in an explosion-proof, stainless-steel enclosure useful for hazardous environments. All models include a digital display for viewing gas concentration readings and alarms, says the company.

The FMC-10 has been designed to operate in the full range of environments from commercial premises through to heavy industrial applications which may require hazardous area sensing. FMC-60 on the other hand, is a multi-channel controller that has been designed to operate in the full range of environments from commercial premises through to heavy industrial applications which may require hazardous area sensing with standard 16-channel 4-20 mA inputs and 64 addressable inputs.

And FMC-40, which one among the new releases, offers 1-to 4- channel gas alarms and operates on single-channel plug-and-play cards and has been designed to operate in a full range of environments from commercial premises to heavy industrial applications that may require hazardous-area sensing.

“Our S-series fixed monitors give users the advantage of smart sensor modules that can be remotely calibrated and connected to our wireless network,” Jensen said.
