Asian Operator Opts for Paradial's RealTunnel

By Vivek Naik, TMCnet Contributor

Paradial reportedly announced it has signed a contractual agreement with a major Asian multiple services telecommunications operator, and says one of the key features of the licensing agreement it to implement its globally accepted solution, RealTunnel.

Officials claim that the company’s RealTunnel offering is a standards based firewall and a Network Address Translation platform that covers most of the known technology scenarios including STUN, TURN and ICE.

NAT is the method of interpreting network address information and suitably redefining it in datagram packet headers while in transit across a traffic routing device for the purpose of remapping a given address space into another.

STUN originally stood for Simple Traversal of User datagram protocol through NATS, but has since been modified to represent Session Traversal Utilities for NAT. It is used for applications of real-time voice, video, messaging and other interactive IP communications, and allows them to identify the NAT related micro level details of a such as mapped IP and port number allocation for the application’s UDP (News - Alert) connections to distant hosts.

TURN, meaning Traversal Using Relay NAT, is a method that allows select components protected by a NAT or Firewall to receive, but not send, digital information over a UDP or TCP connection.

ICE, an acronym for Interactive Connectivity Establishment is a multiple technique mechanism for NAT traversal, and one its main uses is to allow SIP-based VoIP clients to successfully interact with recipients even though firewalls may exist between the user, irrespective of current location and a network.

Generally speaking, SIP trunking is a service offered by Internet telephony service providers so that businesses can adopt VoIP using their Internet connection. That way, they can communicate with others who rely on the PSTN, since the enterprise IP PBX (News - Alert) is connected to the service provider’s PSTN gateways over the Internet.

Paradial’s (News - Alert) solution will benefit the customers, ISVs and communications service providers who will be able to quickly deploy standards based softphone services that work across any network device.

In 2007, Paradial said it received Technology Marketing Corporation’s Internet Telephony magazine 2006 Product of the Year Award.

At that time, Product Director at Paradial, Kevin Kliland said, “Paradial is proud to receive the Internet Telephony (News - Alert) magazine Product of the Year award for 2006. RealTunnel 2.0 simplifies SIP communications by automatically delivering guaranteed and secure connectivity to carriers, service providers and enterprises deploying voice and video communication, collaboration and conferencing solutions. End-users not able to communicate using IP-solutions very quickly become unhappy customers. Making sure that an end-user can place calls to anyone – independent of location - is a most important success criteria for any provider of IP solutions.”
