Nominum Delivers Third Generation Trusted Response and Universal Enforcement Architecture

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Nominum (News - Alert) has reportedly said that it has delivered the third generation of its Trusted Response and Universal Enforcement, or TRUE, architecture that automatically protects end users against internet threats as soon as they are discovered.

Nominum said that its intelligent network naming and addressing solutions improve IP networks of all sizes globally, from carrier broadband network to enterprises, universities and government agencies.

The advantages offered by Nominum’s TRUE architecture and products include reduction in the cost of helpdesk calls from users affected by Internet threats. It offers protection to users, browsers and applications with no privacy issues at a nominal price.

Nominum said that one aspect of its Trusted Internet Experience is that it implies taking advantage of every possible DNS protection to prevent exploits such as cache poisoning that allow attackers to take control of valuable web sites, email, and many other vital Internet resources.

Attackers usually take advantage of the shortcomings of legacy DNS systems to continuously change the profile of their exploits in order to sustain their effectiveness and inflict broader damage on the Internet. Nominum has stated that it has developed its third-generation TRUE Architecture that can substantially advance the state of the art with security measures unavailable in any legacy DNS system.

The next generation architecture makes use of Intelligent Domain Name System that offers end users with greater internet security.

Some of the key features of the next generation architecture include personalized services that can be deployed across the provider network for compliance and protection by leveraging the highly scalable, data efficient, threat aggregation platform. In addition, automated provisioning of threat data across the network helps network-wide policy enforcement against millions of malicious, illegal or inappropriate Internet destinations with no manual intervention.

Moreover, real-time visibility to protect against attacks within seconds of their launch and it also gives time to quickly detect and stop threats. The discovery mode allows users to analyze the scope and source of a threat and confidentiality of sensitive data feeds prevents inadvertent disclosure or theft of lists of Web sites hosting unwanted or illegal content, such as child exploitation images.

Nominum has said that security issues provide an obligation and an opportunity for service providers. And with the new features in its solution, Nominum said that it can help remove all operational and deployment barriers for providers to deliver new services and meet government mandates in the shortest possible time. By building on existing Nominum DNS investments, ISPs can deliver the additional services with minimum investment, and no changes to the network architecture.

In other news, Nominum had joined the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) and had revealed a comprehensive new security release for its Vantio caching DNS server platform.
