Voltage Security Launches New Global Licensing Program

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

Voltage Security (News - Alert), a provider of start-to-finish data safeguarding solutions, recently announced a global zero-cost licensing program for combining its end-to-end encryption solution, Voltage SecureData with point-of-sale appliances. This global licensing program will be a first for the industry. The Voltage SecureData Open License Program significantly reduces the hindrances to facilitate simpler embedding of encryption with any POS appliance, electronic cash register, mobile device or eCommerce Payments gateways, safeguarding credit card information from the point of entry as it enters the workflow, according to company officials.

Global POS solution provider Hypercom also recently announced signing up for the new open license program. Hypercom hopes to further strengthen its market position by signing up for the new program by being able to provide one of the safest payment gateways in its segment currently. Their reinforced solution can be rapidly and simply deployed to bring about a dramatic reduction in data lapses and compliance expenditure.

By implementing beginning-to-end encryption in payment gateways, consumers are assured of the utmost safeguards for their card information. A recent study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers (News - Alert) has affirmed the same. Voltage Security has allowed POS and ECR manufacturers and eCommerce payment channel providers to provide highly secure solutions at much lower PCI (News - Alert) audit costs by licensing the end-to-end encryption solution to them.

One of the main advantages of the global Voltage SecureData Open License Program is that it is the industry's most open licensing model. There is zero-cost for licensing the program for POS device manufacturers and enables them to distribute Voltage SecureData-enabled payment appliances. They do not have to pay any royalties for deployment or proliferation through POS devices. They also have the widest relevance. The Voltage SecureData Payments POS SDK is not dependent on the device and can be easily migrated to any hardware or software platform, including PIN pads, integrated POS systems, electronic cash registers, mobile devices and "card-not-present" eCommerce environments. Additionally, the Payments POS SDK leverages of TRSMs when accessible. It is also among the easiest systems to deploy. The Voltage SecureData Payments POS SDK has established ports accessible to a wide number of platforms. It includes a small footprint fitted for limited appliances like hand-held and mobile. The Voltage SecureData Payments POS SDK smoothly integrates with Voltage's uncomplicated, stateless, key management framework which also makes it easy to administer.

Voltage has also joined the non-profit industry organization, SPVA. The SPVA is collaborating with the participants of the payments industry to evolve a start-to-finish security infrastructure and to improve security features of payment solutions which safeguard cardholder data and protect merchants and sellers from security lapses, while cutting down on fraud and reducing overall risk levels for all electronic payment participants. The first charter of the SPVA specifically targets securing a standardized execution of current security standards, safeguards of the payment device lifecycle and security vulnerabilities analysis and information.
