In response to the building momentum for identity management initiatives all over the world, Axway has announced the creation of a strategic global identity Security initiative not only to address identity security, but also to address Public Key Infrastructure requirements of governments and enterprises.

 

Identity management’s rapid growth has been fueled by the need to manage complex identity validation and security needs in sectors like defense, healthcare, finance and human services. Currently, in order to minimize fraud, identity theft and data loss, companies have resorted to using ID cards with embedded chips, biometrics, and mobile devices.

These companies while delivering hardware security modules, certificate authority, authentication and validation, will also focus on device and credential management.

 

On its part, Axway will offer its Validation Authority suite technology along with its leadership skills in Business Interaction Networks and policy-based IT governance. Its VA is in a position to provide validation and authorization solutions based on both Online Certificate Status Protocol and server based Certificate Validation Protocol.

 

Alan Taylor, director for alliances, Axway, says, “We often create this type of initiative with other vendors to deliver complete solutions for specific projects, so formalizing this is the next logical step.” He went on to add that the global security initiative was the answer to the challenges of credential and identity management posed by governments worldwide.

 

This global identity security initiative will be promoted globally. It is felt that customers, common technology alliances, system integrators and security resellers will benefit by such a promotion. Not only will it protect critical data across all sectors, but it is claimed that it will provide a powerful business continuity and authorization framework.

 

 It is thought that with the passage of time, other solution vendors will seamlessly integrate into the ecosystem and offer the best practices for security initiatives within multiple delivery mechanisms. This in turn will lead to new delivery options being provided.

 

Such integrated solutions, it is felt, will ensure compliance with government mandates for physical and logical access, e-authentication and personal identity validation credentials.
