VirtualLogix Unveils New Version of its Virtualization Software VirtualLogix VLX

VirtualLogix, Inc., a provider of real-time virtualization technology for mobile handsets reportedly released a new version of its virtualization software for mobile handsets, VirtualLogix (News - Alert) VLX MH4.0.

Company sources said that the new version features more functionality which will enable mobile silicon vendors and OEMs to easily design smartphone functionalities in low cost single-core, ARM (News - Alert)-based consumer phones.

VLX is capable of enabling multiple operating systems and application software solutions to co-exist and function seamlessly in a real-time environment required in connected mobile devices. VLX offers operating system and hardware platform independence, enhanced device security and improved performance for multimedia and gaming applications in the ARM-based consumer devices.

“With this newest generation of VLX for ARM, VirtualLogix has increased the ability for developers to quickly adapt the latest generation of mobile silicon platforms and accelerate production of consumer mobile products with differentiation, advanced functionality and lower costs,” Glenda Dorchak, vice chairman and CEO, VirtualLogix, said. “VLX solves fundamental challenges by allowing re-use of proven wireless software with the latest high-level operating systems, thus reducing overall development issues and costs by lessening requirements for retesting and recertification.”

According to VirtualLogix officials VLX MH4.0 features a fully virtualized version of the Android (News - Alert) operating system. This isolates the operating system from the mobile handset’s peripheral devices and multimedia accelerators and codecs. As hardware dependencies are removed from the virtualized Andorid for VLX, it is easier to integrate on hardware platforms and easy to upgrade to new releases.

VirtualLogix plans to showcase the VLX MH4.0 solution at the Mobile World Congress next week. The new version of VLX supports all ARM processors and proprietary real-time operating systems which can be used along with the Android application environment.

VirtualLogix specializes in real-time virtualization software technology for mobile products including wireless handsets. Its VLX enables multiple operating system environments to run concurrently on shared hardware for both Intel (News - Alert) and ARM-based solutions.

VLX offers advantages like better power management, performance, application independence, fault tolerance and security options, which can be customized depending on requirements. Developers are able to save on R&D costs and reduce time to market.
