ManageEngine Releases New Version of Password Manager Pro

ManageEngine, the company making a suite of network, systems, applications and security management software solutions, has announced a new version of the company’s Privileged Password Management solution, Password Manager Pro.

The newest version features real-time alerting on audit events and integration with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions for a comprehensive information security and IT compliance infrastructure.

Whenever an activity/event – including password access, modification or any other occurrence – takes places within the ManageEngine (News - Alert) application, this new version of Password Manager Pro generates SNMP traps and Syslog messages, according to company officials.

Company officials said that the traps/syslog messages can be sent to a third-party SIEM tool, which can analyze and correlate the data from Password Manager Pro with other network events.

“The new integration with SIEM allows security administrators and auditors to monitor privileged account access and activities from a single console and reconcile security incidents to possible privileged access abuse,” said Rajesh Ganesan, director of product management at ManageEngine.

Additionally, the new version of Password Manager Pro also includes a number of other enterprise-class features that make it a “powerful tool” for achieving infrastructure security, said company officials.

Shane Wendel of Texas A&M Health Science Center, said that Password Manager Pro has increased their ability to ensure password compliance and proper escrow of system password throughout the company’s environment.

“It allows us to take swift, comprehensive action in the case of an IT personnel change. Password Manager Pro also provides a much more tolerable mechanism for the mundane, but necessary, task of system password rotation through an intuitive interface,” Wendel said.

Password Manager Pro can be downloaded directly from the ManageEngine Web site, and the software is available in two edition: Standard and Premium.
