Québec, Canada based provider of email messaging security solutions provider Vircom Inc. has announced the modusGate VM e-mail security software platform, an anti-spam virtual machine.
Virtual machines allow IT administrators to regroup multiple VM services into a single hardware server. In addition, they are highly scalable. E-mail security solutions are ideal for virtualization. Being scalable, an e-mail security VM can grow at the same rate as an organization’s mailbox count and email volume. This ensures optimum host server utilization and reduced costs associated with power and cooling, rack and floor space, and maintenance and upgrades.
Unlike physical email security servers, virtual email security servers can be up and running within minutes. In addition, Vircom’s Blockade infrastructure ensures low cost backups and recovery and ease in designing of redundancy and high-availability plans.
"We see virtualization taking a growing space in the e-mail security industry. Vircom has, and will continue to be, at the forefront of thought leadership with this new product offering. modusGate is an easy-to-setup and efficient anti-spam and antivirus gateway software for corporate mail servers such as Exchange. E-mail security virtualization is consistent with both our vision and today’s IT departments’ requirements," said Vircom CEO Sylvain Durocher.
The modusGate VM has been tailored for small and medium-sized corporate and service provider environments. It supports Windows 2003 and 2008 guest OS, and performs spam filtering for virtual and physical e-mail servers, including Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010.
Founded in 1994, Vircom offers a broad array of deployment options, proprietary anti-spam technology, complete Windows infrastructure integration and premium customer service. The company’s prominent brands include modusMail, modusGate, modusGate VM and modusGate Appliance.
