DiGi Selects NetCracker Network Inventory System

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

DiGi Telecommunications announced it has selected NetCracker (News - Alert) as the supplier for Network Inventory System.

As part of the pact, NetCracker will help automate processes and provide an integrated view of network operations as DiGi rolls out their 3G mobile broadband network.

DiGi is one of Malaysia’s mobile operators, serving 7.7 million customers across Malaysia. Their 3G rollout is aimed at delivering Internet to the people on Malaysia’s most advanced Turbo 3G (14.4 Mbps HSPA) network.

Officials with NetCracker said that DiGi will use the company’s resource inventory, discovery and reconciliation, and design and planning capabilities to help create a central repository of network and IT information used by all operations and management systems.

Company officials said that this unified view of the network will enable DiGi to automate processes, boost operational efficiencies, and lower risk and costs associated with next-generation infrastructure deployment.

According to company officials, NetCracker would also be providing a full range of services to implement and operationalize the DiGi solution, combining aspects of NetCracker best practices, consulting services for business optimization, and PMO ownership to guarantee maximum business benefits and rapid monetization.

“Excellent customer experience and operational efficiency are our key priorities,” said Ole Martin Gunhildsbu, CTO of DiGi, in a statement.

Gunhildsbu said that NetCracker’s OSS solution will enable higher visibility and management of multiple assets from a central location, ensuring that the company’s service delivery process is best in class.

“We are pleased to provide DiGi with a solution that will help ease the rollout of a sophisticated mobile network aimed at bringing accessible Internet service to the people of Malaysia,” said Andrew Feinberg, president and CEO of NetCracker.

Feinberg said that DiGi’s rollout of Turbo 3G will enable the country’s business and residential users to experience the innovation and customer focus that is the foundation of DiGi.

NetCracker is a provider of telecom operations and management systems to communications service providers worldwide.
