Growing demand for Internet capacity and increased risk of cybercrime are combining to knock affordably meeting organizations’ Web needs out of tune. To restore harmony to the Internet, Cymphonix, which makes secure Web gateways, has come out with the EX Series Network Composer product portfolio. It marries high performance custom hardware with an entirely new 64-bit XLi operating system (OS) to enable exact limits on bandwidth to specific users in a secure environment.
The Cymphonix (News - Alert) Network Composer EX enables organizations to optimize Internet traffic and eliminate security threats, providing decision makers complete visibility and control of their Internet usage. Designed to sit in-line with network connections ranging from 2 Mb/s up to 1 Gb/s, the nine Network Composer EX Series models run the Cymphonix XLi OS that takes full advantage of the custom hardware to deliver comprehensive monitoring and management of all incoming and outgoing Internet traffic.
And while traditional Secure Web Gateway (News - Alert) products typically scan and control layers 3 and 4, the EX Series Network Composer, says Cymphonix, provides deep packet inspection for OSI layers 3 through 7. It also includes real-time HTTPS scanning to allow a view into encrypted, secure surfing sessions that protect privacy but can threaten company security.
The Cymphonix Network Composer offers an enhanced Web-based interface that gives customers an easy-to-use view of the broadest summary reports with granular details that reveal up-to-date aggregated visibility into threats or concerns with network efficiency and user productivity. Detailed reports can include user activity, application traffic and potential Internet threats. An organization can report and control for a 100+ EX Network Composer appliances from a single interface, providing better security and Web optimization through multidimensional policy enforcement while eliminating the need to correlate incomplete sets of data from multiple appliances.
The Cymphonix EX Series Network Composer supports powerful, tailored profiles to filter, prioritize and shape Internet traffic, manage permissions and implement organizational policies, which can be created in one location and automatically pushed to all or select Network Composers. Delegated access to a subset of the interface for additional administrators can also be enabled. The Cymphonix XLi OS includes a Dynamic Live Reporting Engine, Application Identification Engine, Anonymous Proxy Guard, Content Classification Engine, Malware Detection and True Cache technologies that combine the firm says to deliver comprehensive monitoring, protection and control of all Internet traffic.
“With the growth of cloud computing and the daily proliferation of new Web sites and connected applications, protecting and managing an organization's Internet resource has never been more difficult and critical,” said Brent Nixon, CEO of Cymphonix. “To address this landscape, we have designed an in-line system with custom hardware and software that can scale from a single site to a distributed enterprise with over a hundred locations. Unlike any solution on the market today, we move well beyond the blunt 'block and allow' approach to Internet gatekeeping by enabling precise limits on bandwidth available to specific users, Web content, groups or applications based on assigned priority.”
Cymphonix has won over customers to the new solution, finding it effective and flexible.
“As a global hospitality company, we are pleased with Cymphonix; Network Composer offers truly breakthrough productivity and security functionality in a single appliance, which we’re now able to scale across multiple locations,” said Jamel Perkins, vice president of information technology for Delaware North Companies, Inc. “For a reasonable price, we gain some of the most sophisticated reporting and bandwidth management tools available that make all the difference in ensuring there are no security disruptions across our organization as well as no productivity drains and distractions to our mission critical Internet activity. Delaware North is in the process of rolling out the implementation of Network Composer to its global enterprise.”
