Harris Receives Certification from U.S. Government for Its RF-7800W High-Capacity Line-of-Sight Radio

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Harris Corporation, a communications and information technology company, has stated that its RF-7800W High-Capacity Line-of-Sight Radio has received significant certification from the U.S. Government and has been certified to meet the requirements of Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 Level 2 by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Harris has claimed that the certification from the U.S. government validated that the RF-7800W meets the design and implementation standards for information security that the U.S. government requires. Harris defense and government customers are assured by this designation that the RF-7800W embedded cryptography and management interfaces meets the government's strict communications security requirements for handling sensitive but unclassified data.
President for Department of Defense Business at Harris RF Communications, Steve Marschilok has stated that the Harris has been committed to offer solutions that provide best-in-class combination of performance and security.
The RF-7800W radio provides quick-to-deploy, point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless IP infrastructure, enabling high-bandwidth data communication between mobile or fixed operations centers. The Harris RF-7800W establishes high-speed wireless data connections for combat applications over long distances. The radio combines bandwidth and size efficiencies found in state-of-the-art commercial wireless technology with full military-grade communications security and packaging to provide rugged, reliable and secure high-bandwidth data communications.
The RF-7800W also offers a set of ground-breaking protocols and techniques, collectively known as Traffic Flow Security to secure the radio's wireless and management interfaces. These enhancements utilize industry-standard techniques and algorithms such as Federal Information Processing Standard- 197 certified AES encryption, digital certificates, and dynamic encryption key generation and exchange. The RF-7800W's radio breaks through traditional line of site restrictions and better serve users with one common platform through their highly flexible, highly secure, and robust waveform.
The U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and 20 other nations worldwide see the RF-7800W radio as a multi-use, multi-purpose SDR platform that is rugged and highly reliable in traditional backhaul applications. RF-7800W enables militaries to explore new ways of achieving broadband communications such as real time airborne, border protection, vehicular convoy on-the-move, and dockside infrastructure for ship to shore transmissions.
Recently, Harris was selected for FAA's IDIQ contract and Harris Corporation won $6 Million order for Falcon III.
