In partnership with Net2Phone, InnoMedia (News - Alert) plans to offer the InnoMedia ESBC 8528-4B with Smart-DQoS technology to Net2Phone's cable customers. Being the first to address integrated service offering needs of cable operators, InnoMedia’s innovative product delivers SIP Trunking and hosted voice telephony services, and also provides broadband internet service to enterprise customers. The ESBC solution is embedded in a cable modem with support for end-to-end QoS thus delivering uncompromising call quality minus the need for network-based policy servers.

InnoMedia’s ESBC 8528-4B is an Enterprise SIP Gateway (News - Alert) (ESG) with an embedded Session Border Controller (eSBC) among other MSO functions. Having the advantage of B2BUA and QoS management technologies, ESBC is the only one with device-initiated DQoS over DOCSIS cable networks that delivers QoS managed SIP trunks. Its also features internal backup battery with telemetry, an external UPS port, a 4 port switch, 4 FXS POTS/fax ports, a DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem, and firewall by-pass ports.

The ESBC 8528-4B enables NAT and firewall traversal, and being located at the network’s edge allows only authorized VoIP traffic to enter the network. With support for SIP normalization, it also ensures interoperability with enterprise customer equipment, such as an IP-PBX (News - Alert) or IP Phones. SIP ALG, SIP Registrar, Profile-based SIP Header Manipulation, monitoring features, and business friendly primary line VoIP FXS ports are some of the additional features supported by the device.

In a release, Natasha Stone who is the vice president of business development at Net2Phone/IDT said, “We have been looking at ways to extend our service offering from our flagship VoIP residential and hosted business services products into the enterprise market space. The InnoMedia ESBC device integrated easily into our solution. We can now offer our clients a way to bridge the gap between legacy infrastructure and today's emerging technologies to serve this market segment.”

According to Shailesh Patel, senior director of product management at InnoMedia, the launch of InnoMedia's ESBC 8528-4B with Smart-DQoS by Net2Phone was in sync with the cable system momentum shifting from residential to enterprise. He added that moving forward InnoMedia plans to further strengthen its ties with Net2Phone. Net2Phone were already leveraging InnoMedia’s ATA and eMTA products to deliver quality VoIP services.
