Global Crossing (News
- Alert), a global IP solutions provider, brings to market a unified communications (UC) experience to its customers, as it qualifies its portfolio of Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) Trunking solutions with Microsoft (News
- Alert) Lync Server 2010. Microsoft Corp.’s UC server allows Global Crossing, among other SIP Trunking providers, to beta test its SIP Trunking solutions.
In a press release, Kirk Gregersen, senior director of product management for Microsoft Lync, commented, “Global Crossing provides customers with a portfolio of SIP Trunking services to complement their Lync deployments.” Network providers rely on SIP Trunking when establishing UC tools such as “presence” solutions, and Global Crossing is offering a cost-effective solution to its customers transforming their communications by eliminating the deployment and management of additional communications equipment. Lync Server 2010 will further allow end-users to access presence-based features.
A simplified infrastructure will increase productivity. Dave Carey, Global Crossing's chief marketing officer, said in a statement, "SIP Trunking provides us with a technical aptitude, reach, and customer service advantage that enable enterprises to migrate to the new server without service interruptions."
The SIP Trunking solutions that support Lync Server 2010 throughout Europe, North America and Latin America include Global Crossing VoIP Outbound, Global Crossing VoIP Local Service and Global Crossing VoIP Toll Free. The solutions combine voice, instant messaging, Web, audio and videoconferencing services.
In a statement, Jamie Ryan, chief information officer (CIO) at Aspect (News - Alert), said, "Global Crossing's SIP Trunking solutions have enabled us to successfully manage off-net calling over a high quality IP connection, while trialing the latest in Microsoft UC technology."
Recently, Bivio Networks and Global Crossing partnered to deliver managed security services and network monitoring to U.S. government customers. Using network monitoring related products, the companies expect to provide a powerful managed security service to U.S. Government customers that will include continuous network monitoring, intrusion detection, anomaly detection and data retention.
