TMC and Crossfire Media Host SIP Tutorial at ITEXPO

By TMCnet News

TMC and Crossfire Media have announced that the SIP Tutorial will return to ITEXPO on Feb. 2 to 4, 2011 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. TMC and Crossfire Media also announced that a full-day SIP Tutorial will take place Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the Liberty Hotel in Boston.

The SIP Tutorial provides updates on the latest Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) services, including: messaging; server types; security; firewall and NAT operation; SIP trunking; and SIP in unified communications. Additional topics covered in the SIP Tutorial include:

  • Telecom and Internet Standards
  • Core SIP Standards
  • SIP Services
  • SIP Security
  • SIP Challenges
  • P2P and SIP

These sessions are hosted by two of the most prominent authorities in the SIP world: Dr. Henry Sinnreich and Dr. Alan Johnston.

Dr. Sinnreich, considered by many to be the “Godfather of SIP,” developed the first commercial SIP service used by a major carrier. He has authored several books on SIP, and is an active contributor to IETF SIP standards work.

Johnston is adjunct professor at Washington University in St. Louis, and director of the SIP Forum. He is a co-author of the core SIP specification, and other standards. He holds several patents, and is the author of four books on SIP and VoIP security.

“Anyone interested in learning more about SIP concepts, protocols, and emerging services should join us in Miami, or Boston,” said Carl Ford, partner and community developer for Crossfire Media. “The rate of change in the telecommunications industry is constant, and our SIP tutorials in Boston and Miami provide the easiest and most convenient forums for staying up to date on the latest SIP enhancements.”

Registration for the SIP Tutorial remains open. All SIP Tutorial attendees in Miami will have full access to the ITEXPO Exhibition Floor, featuring hundreds of IP communications and broadband Internet companies, as well as all 4GWE and ITEXPO networking events.

The SIP Tutorial is one of the many informative events colocated at ITEXPO. Other events taking place at ITEXPO in Miami include: 4GWE; Smart Grid Summit; M2M Evolution, Cloud Communications Summit; Social CRM Expo; VIPeering; ChannelVision Expo; Business Video Expo; StartupCamp; and Digium|Asterisk World.
