In a sit down interview with TMC at ITEXPO (News - Alert) East 2011, Steve Johnson, president of Ingate Systems discussed SIP trunking growth and its role in providing the next generation of communications.

Ingate Systems (News - Alert) AB is a Stockholm, Sweden based high-tech company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets data communications products for trusted Unified Communications (News - Alert).

In answering a question that had to do with services (other than video) SIP can offer to those businesses that are service providers, Johnson mentioned the flexibility of SIP trunking saying, “SIP is a protocol that is not specific to voice or video, it can handle anything that is media.”

Johnson also mentioned what Ingate envisions for the future, saying “What we’re looking for toward the future is people will add desktop video.” Johnson believes desktop video is “right around the corner” and is “the next big thing.”

He believes in the long run, social media will also become a part of the fabric that is Ingate’s communications.

SIP trunking has had explosive growth in the past year and Ingate’s SIP trunking services have been a major beneficiary of that underline growth. This year, Johnson expects the same growth the company attained last year, also indicating the company’s intentions of developing new networks, partners, and a general up swell in interest when it comes SIP communications as a whole.

Ingate hopes to expand its SIP trunking services, and going global to countries such as Sweden, Germany, France, Brazil and Mexico remain points of interest going forward.
